アメリカを変えた四人の実業家
～はじめに～
「アメリカを変えた四人の実業家」と書くと、「何だ偉人伝か？」と言われる可能性が高い。答えだが、「いや、普通の人だが、一般大衆と違うのは“勝つ”という意志が異常に強いことである」としたい。この「勝つ」という意志は日本の実業家にもある。ただその意志のサイズが大きく違うのである。その違いとは？ １）事業を拡げるときは「非情」を徹底している～２）無限に富を積み上げる～３）その富を国に寄付している。「カネはあればあるほど良い。それを山のように積め。出来上がったら、なるたけ多くの寄付をしろ！」とロックフェラーがクリーブランドの精油所を落札したときに老齢の売主が言った。ロックフェラーはその直言を一生涯、座右の銘とした。
この「非情」は民族性が優しい日本人には、到底、不可能なのである。仏心の無かった織田信長ぐらいだろう。仏教徒のアジア人には慈悲がある。だが、アングロサクソンにもキリスト教の慈悲心がある。だから、フィランソロフィまたは、ノーブル・オブリージェという喜捨を実行する。しかし、この非情と慈悲の矛盾とも見える行動をどうして出来るのか？答えは、実業の達成とその成果を社会に戻すことを明確に分けているからである。寄付には競争がないが、実業とは「競争に勝つ」ということだからである。この四人は、非情を以って事業を拡大して行った。現代ならとんでもないこともやっている。この四人の共通点はあまり教育を受けていないことである。日本にもその傾向がある。高学歴ほど実業には向かないと伊勢は思っている。
第一話 コーネリウス・バンダービルト(1794～1877)
「ドケチ～ギャンブラー～嘘つき～無謀～非情、、」と新聞に書かれたバンダービルトの初代コーネリウスとはどのような人物だったのだろうか？このガムシャラな男は「提督」と呼ばれたが、その名は誰が付けたのか？伊勢は、初代のひ孫であるアーサー・Ｔ．バンダー ビルト・二世の書いた「幸運な子供たち」という５４０ページの本を読んでいる。日本では出版されていない。提督のひ孫さんは法学者である、現在６５歳、ニュージャージー州の司法次官補である。そして、著述家でもある。庭園が大好きなこの人の「エデンの庭師」はよく売れている。だが、「幸運な子供たち」は本物のベストセラーである。伊勢は、何故、日本の出版界はこんな歴史上の人物を取り上げないのか不思議で仕方がない。日本人は日本の外それも昔の話しには関心がないと思われる。ということは日本人は後退中ということである。その逆は福沢諭吉だったから。日本批判が伊勢の目的ではない。このシリーズの目的は「青年よ、強欲になれ！」なのである。さて、能書きはこのぐらいにして、早速この開拓者を書いてみよう。
第一章 フロンテイア
「開拓者」というと、カリホルニア～オレゴンをめざした幌馬車隊を思い起こす。だが、バンダービルトはミシシッピー河の東側でその勢力を張った。ニューヨークのマンハッタンは、この男が作ったと言っても良い。バンダービルトの海運業はニューヨークから急速に発展して行った。パナマやニカラガにまで両側に水車のついた蒸気船を航海させた。財閥となったバンダービルトは、オハイオから大西洋岸の大工業都市を縄張りとしたのである。
コーネリウス・バンダービルトは、マンハッタンの向こう岸にあるスターテン島に生まれた。バンダービルトは、実際は、Van de Biltというオランダの都市の名前である。アメリカが国家になる前、ひい爺さんがオランダから移民したのである。１７００年、イギリスに海軍力を奪われたオランダ人がアメリカを目指したのは自然だろう。大英帝国は実はオランダの親代わりとなって、オランダの植民地であったセイロンとインドネシアを保護した。いわゆる、蘭領東印度会社（Dutch East India）である。オランダは、１３００の小島を含んだ版図を３５０年以上も植民地とした。バンダービルトはこの「ダッチ・イースト」とマンハッタンで商権を争うことになる、、つまり祖国と闘ったのである。こうして、移民はアメリカ人になるのである。
日本の横須賀沖にペリー提督の黒船が来航したのは、１８５３年である。この絵もその時代に描かれた。当時、ニューヨークは、「ニューアムステルダム」と呼ばれるほどオランダからきた移民に溢れていた。このオランダ系アメリカ人は混血で溶けて行った。純粋のオランダ人はいない。ほとんどがイギリス人との混血となった。伊勢青年のガールフレンドもその一人だった。
ローラは２４歳の小柄の金髪美人。伊勢は３５だったよ。ローラの母親ナンシーは英国系。父親はオランダ系だった。ナンシーは未亡人だった。ローラの父親は医者だったが敗血症で早逝した。ローラと結婚していたら、どんな子供が生まれたのかな？などと想うことがあるよ（笑い）。伊勢はやがて、ハリウッドへ出て行ったので別れてしまった、、彼女が結婚してニューヨークの郊外に住んでいるのを知っているが、３９年前に別れて以来、コンタクトをしたことはない。わが妻が悲しむからだ。昨日も、オランダやローラのことを話したら顔が曇った。ああ、人生は楽じゃないわな、、
話し戻って、少年バンダービルトは、父親の農園を開墾を助けた。小学校はあったが手が要るので行かなかった。開墾作業が終わるとマンハッタンの見える海岸へ行って港を出入りする帆掛け舟を眺めていた。１８１０年、バンダービルトが１６歳になった。アメリカは１７７６年以来の独立戦争を完結していなかった。ジャマイカに海軍基地を持っていたイギリス海軍がニューアムステルダム（ＮＹ）港に入ってきては砲撃した。独立戦争は１８８２年にニューオーリンで終結した。同じ年に、アメリカの憲法が出来た。フィラデルフィアの「自由の鐘」である。四つの自由が保障されたのである。以来、アメリカはこの自由憲章を建国の原理として世界で戦ったきた。
ある日、港で帆かけ船が売りに出ているのを知ったバンダービルと少年は、母親にその代金である１００ドルを借りたいと懇願した。母親が古い掛け時計の中にカネを貯めているのを知っていたからである。母親が「残る２エーカー（２５００坪）を伐採したらカネを貸す」と言った。近所の農家の少年を雇って昼夜通して伐採した。これがバンダービルトの人生初めての事業であった。１６歳のバンダービルトは帆かけ船を買った。そして「提督」と名付けたのである。以来、友人はバンダビルトを「提督様」と呼んだ。少年は「自分は提督である」と胸を張った。早速、スターテン島の野菜、ジャガイモ、トウモロコシ、鶏、兎、豚をマンハッタンに運んだ。海峡は８キロメートルだが、ハドソン河の流れは速い。潮の干満を図って出帆する。提督様は潮の干満図を頭に入れた。尖閣は片道２５セント、往復は２０セントと決めた。競争相手よりも激安にしたため、満席となった。一年で１０００ドルも稼いだ。商売下手が売る船を買い占めて行った。大型フェリーを発注した。５００人が乗れるスケールが人々を驚かした。商船学校を出た船長を雇った。ニューヨークと名を変えたマンハッタンの知事は大型フェリーに賛成だったが、競争相手はみな潰れると大反対の上に暴力沙汰も起きた。だが、１８歳の青年となったバンダービルトは競争相手を買収した。売りたくないという者には、「おまえはスッテンテンになるぞ！」と脅した。裁判所に訴えたが、裁判官は「売ればいいじゃあないか」とすげなかった。袖の下がよく効いていたのである。

「太平洋戦争の切開手術」で論戦
この反日テレビ番組は、スピールバーグとトム・ハンクスが製作したものである。この論争は日本の学校では習えない英語のスラングの学習である。伊勢は、「独学することでしか英語は身に着かない」と信じている。その為、出来るだけそのままとした。

Several posters wrote that Japanese killed millions of Chinese, they claim that is the reason the US, more specific FDR, intervened. FDR imposed an oil & steel embargo to the island nation of Japan. Japan retaliated by attacking the US naval base, Ford Island, Hawaii on December 7th 1945. The Pacific War ended with the dropping of two A-bombs which killed 220,000 unarmed women and children in Hiroshima & Nagasaki on August 6 & 9 1945.
I have these questions to Americans.
1) Why did FDR impose an oil & steel embargo in the first place? It was a war between Japan and the Chinese militias, who were financed by FDR, not a direct war against America!
2) Why the Enola Gay and the second A-bomb, which killed 220,000 innocent victims along with 110,000 civilians in the fire bombs in downtown Tokyo March 1945?
3) After the war ended why did Truman, who ordered the killing of 330,000 innocent civilians, want Japan to be a US ally?
4) If Truman wanted to protect the Chinese, why didn't the US make China a US ally?
5) China is still an enemy of the West, WHY? Can anyone answer these questions?

And about Okinawa In 1912, Okinawans first obtained the right to vote for representatives to the national Diet which had been established in 1890. Also Japan tried to eliminate the Ryukyuan culture, including the language, religion, and cultural practices. Japan introduced public education that permitted only the use of standard Japanese while shaming students who used their own language by forcing them to wear plaques around their necks proclaiming them "dialect speakers." This increased the number of Japanese language speakers on the islands, creating a link with the mainland. All this with a simple Google search, there are pictures to showing the beatings and the little kids wearing the plaques, and the studies being taught to the Ryukyuan, to call it brain washing would be putting it mildly. Maybe you're the one that needs to read a book.

I have lived in the US since 1967 and have witnessed the Vietnam War along with the racial divide between blacks and whites. Black folks were not given voting rights until MLK's Civil Right movement in the 1960s, am I correct? Blacks are not Anglo-Saxon white, however, they are genuine American citizens, correct? I have not answered your "surrender” question. There were many options to end the war. First of all you must read the book "Day of Deceit" which explains how FDR framed Japan to lure her into war. In other words, why did you kill 220,000 unarmed women and children to bring Japan to its knees? The Pacific War was initiated by FDR. Do you know why I am arguing with Americans? Because without Japan as your ally the US will lose the Pacific to PRC and Russia. This year the US government will issue a white paper regarding American/Japanese War, this should end a one sided history which was written by the victors. This work was ordered by Bill Clinton and G.W. Bush agreed to it. Close to one million pages, they say. The US is losing military power against Chinese forcing Clinton to forge US/Japan Security Treaty. Obama's eyes are on Chinese money which prompted Robert Gates and Chuck Hagel to announce that those islands are under the protection of the Security Treaty Article 5. You need us!!（アメリカは日本が必要なんだ）

This morning my wife (Catholic) and I went to a service at the Abbey（カトリック教会）. The priest's sermon｛お説教｝ was about the famous story of Christmas 1917 during WWI. British soldiers heard German soldiers singing "silent night" and soon the British began singing. The Germans sent a Christmas present to the Brits. A heartfelt story about human nature. Next morning they resumed firing their artillery that is war, another part of human nature. I understand you don't like my remarks yet they are just words. I wanted to express our anger to whomever justifies the A- bombs which killed 220,000 unarmed innocent women, their babies, and grade school children while at school. They were literally melted in minutes by extremely high temperatures. Please visit Hiroshima when you are in Japan. That was not war but indiscriminate murder of a population...mass murder. Americans we met this morning are innocent people and no need to be responsible for war of any kind. Japanese are silent by nature and will never expressed their anger but they are still angry about Truman, a Christian, who dropped bombs on a Christian city, Nagasaki, and then declared "revenge" in his notes. The revenge he meant is the Pearl Harbor attack. Read "Day of Deceit" by Robert Stinett the truth of FDR's plan.

Several posters wrote that Japanese killed millions of Chinese, they claim that is the reason the US, more specific FDR, intervened. FDR imposed an oil & steel embargo to the island nation of Japan. Japan retaliated by attacking the US naval base, Ford Island, Hawaii on December 7th 1945. The Pacific War ended with the dropping of two A-bombs which killed 220,000 unarmed women and children in Hiroshima & Nagasaki on August 6 & 9 1945.
I have these questions to Americans.
1) Why did FDR impose an oil & steel embargo in the first place? It was a war between Japan and the Chinese militias, who were financed by FDR, not a direct war against America!
2) Why the Enola Gay and the second A-bomb, which killed 220,000 innocent victims along with 110,000 civilians in the fire bombs in downtown Tokyo March 1945?
3) After the war ended why did Truman, who ordered the killing of 330,000 innocent civilians, want Japan to be a US ally?
4) If Truman wanted to protect the Chinese, why didn't the US make China a US ally?
5) China is still an enemy of the West, WHY? Can anyone answer these questions?

Also Japan tried to eliminate the Ryukyuan culture, including the language, religion, and cultural practices. Japan introduced public education that permitted only the use of standard Japanese while shaming students who used their own language by forcing them to wear plaques around their necks proclaiming them "dialect speakers." This increased the number of Japanese language speakers on the islands, creating a link with the mainland. All this with a simple Google search, there are pictures to showing the beatings and the little kids wearing the plaques, and the studies being taught to the Ryukyuan, to call it brain washing would be putting it mildly. Maybe you're the one that needs to read a book.

I have lived in the US since 1967 and have witnessed the Vietnam War along with the racial divide between blacks and whites. Black folks were not given voting rights until MLK's Civil Right movement in the 1960s, am I correct? Blacks are not Anglo-Saxon white, however, they are genuine American citizens, correct? I have not answered your "surrender” question. There were many options to end the war. First of all you must read the book "Day of Deceit" which explains how FDR framed Japan to lure her into war. In other words, why did you kill 220,000 unarmed women and children to bring Japan to its knees? The Pacific War was initiated by FDR. Do you know why I am arguing with Americans? Because without Japan as your ally the US will lose the Pacific to PRC and Russia. This year the US government will issue a white paper regarding American/Japanese War, this should end a one sided history which was written by the victors. This work was ordered by Bill Clinton and G.W. Bush agreed to it. Close to one million pages, they say. The US is losing military power against Chinese forcing Clinton to forge US/Japan Security Treaty. This morning my wife (Catholic) and I went to a service at the Abbey（カトリック教会）. The priest's sermon｛お説教｝ was about the famous story of Christmas 1917 during WWI. British soldiers heard German soldiers singing "silent night" and soon the British began singing. The Germans sent a Christmas present to the Brits. A heartfelt story about human nature. Next morning they resumed firing their artillery that is war, another part of human nature. I understand you don't like my remarks yet they are just words. I wanted to express our anger to whomever justifies the A- bombs which killed 220,000 unarmed innocent women, their babies, and grade school children while at school. They were literally melted in minutes by extremely high temperatures. Please visit Hiroshima when you are in Japan. That was not war but indiscriminate murder of a population...mass murder. Americans we met this morning are innocent people and no need to be responsible for war of any kind. Japanese are silent by nature and will never expressed their anger but they are still angry about Truman, a Christian, who dropped bombs on a Christian city, Nagasaki, and then declared "revenge" in his notes.
